Introduction:
Octadecyl methacrylate is a long-chain alkyl methacrylate ester, also known as stearyl methacrylate. At room temperature, it appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, and becomes a white waxy solid at lower temperatures. It has a slight ester odor, is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents, and has good hydrophobic and lipophilic properties.
It is widely used in the synthesis of acrylic resins, coatings, inks and adhesives. It also serves as a textile dyeing and finishing auxiliary, leather water and oil repellent, lubricant additive, crude oil viscosity reducer and rheology modifier.
