Description:
Chitosan oligosaccharide lactate (CAS 148411-57-8), also known as chito-oligosaccharide or oligochitosan, is a white to light yellow, hygroscopic powder with excellent water solubility. It is a low-molecular-weight oligomer (polymerization degree 2–20, molecular weight ≤3200 Da) derived from enzymatic degradation of chitosan, which is extracted from shrimp and crab shells. It is a natural cationic alkaline oligosaccharide with high biological activity. Industrial grades have a deacetylation degree ≥80%, while food/pharmaceutical grades reach ≥95%–99%.
Application: Chitosan oligosaccharide lactate is widely used across agriculture, food, feed, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. In agriculture, it acts as a plant antiviral agent, growth promoter and stress resistance enhancer (registered as oligosaccharins). In food, it serves as a preservative, fresh-keeping agent, nutritional fortifier and thickener. In animal feed, it functions as an intestinal regulator, immune booster and antibiotic substitute. In pharmaceuticals, it exhibits antibacterial, antitumor, lipid-lowering and wound-healing activities. It is also used in cosmetics for moisturizing and antibacterial care.
