Magnesium oxide can be classified as either lightweight or heavyweight depending on the method of its preparation.
Mainly used as accelerators and activators for chloroprene rubber it can be used as a binder, a pigment for paints and paper. It can also be used in the manufacture of ceramics, enamelware, refractory materials and magnesium oxide cement, etc.
It is used as a color-removing agent during the refining of sugar and as a pH regulator for ice cream powder, among other applications.
